In recent months, we’ve mostly been either quietly seething or protesting online. We knew we’d take part in some events and Jewel got it rolling with a march, and then we did a Tesla-takedown plus a couple other protests. On Manassas First Friday a couple months ago, I taped “Remove Trump” on a couple cards and put them on my sweatshirt front and back (pic is on wiki).

This week, a couple more events occurred. First, our friend Tom Morke started sharing that one of his neighbors has been stalking their house, taking pictures of them, most likely because they have a Canadian politician’s sign (Carney) in their yard. This same guy put up the opposition Canadian candidate (a Trump-like rightist named Polliviere or something). After several security cam sightings, Tom went to the magistrate and had a cop come out to file a complaint. Yesterday, he went out and engaged with the guy, and said he was gonna have him arrested. The shouting match was very political, with the guy yelling about the fact they have political signs up all year long, and that he’s “not a democrat!” and Tom saying he’d have him arrested. Wild!

Last night, at First Friday Manassas for May, one of our neighbors, who Jewel has fallen out with over their continued Trump support, engaged us. We have been ignoring this couple for months (years for me) and he always tries to engage with Jewel to discuss. Jewel does not want to. On the street last night he came right up and wanted to talk with us.

Jewel said “I don’t talk with Fascists.” and he immediately tried to explain or argue that he wasn’t either a fascist or a racist. I said “well, you may not be a fascist or a racist, but you’re okay supporting one, and we don’t want to talk with you.” He continued and Jewel and I shut him down with me finally saying “We don’t want to talk with you, now GO AWAY!” and he mumbled “that’s the problem.” He did go away, though.
